The stories of the four kingdoms—Wei, Wu, Shu and Jin—unfold in the main Story Mode. With the addition of new characters, new episodes and hypothetical stories are included to portray the drama of the Three Kingdoms. The new Awakenings drastically improve the abilities of officers for a short time, enhancing the exhilaration of mowing down swarms of enemies. In addition, the new action system deepens combat through tactical battles against enemy officers.
