The combat system significantly evolved from the traditional Empires series, introducing a new system called “Castle Sieges” where areas around castles become battlefields. Players can enjoy new styles of combat by utilizing various tactics and forces in response to changing battlefield conditions. Additionally, the game offers high freedom gameplay through a "Politics System," allowing players to have their own Three Kingdoms experience going from a general officer to a ruler, with relationships between characters also influencing the gameplay. The game also features an edit mode that enables character customization.
