INTRODUCTION
FATAL FRAME II: Crimson Butterfly REMAKE is a Japanese horror adventure game, and serves as a full remake of the second instalment in the FATAL FRAME (PROJECT ZERO) series. The story follows twin sisters Mio and Mayu as they wander into an abandoned village infested with wraiths. The only way to defend against them is with the use of the Camera Obscura.
The game has been completely overhauled – not only with graphical and audio enhancements, but gameplay systems and controls.
The gameplay mechanics of the Camera Obscura, a signature feature of the FATAL FRAME franchise, have been reworked to offer a more intense and rich experience during combat and exploration. Additionally, a new feature has been included which allows Mio to hold Mayu’s hand, ensuring players can feel the deep bond between the sisters as the story progresses.

The eldest of the twin sisters.
Quiet, reserved, and introspective by nature.
As a child, she slipped on a mountain path and injured her right leg, and to this day is unable to run as she once could. Because of this, she relies deeply on her younger sister, Mio. She has a strong supernatural sense and becomes possessed by a spirit that leads her deep inside Minakami Village.

A fragile-looking young man with white hair, confined within the storehouse.
He calls Mio “Yae” and offers her various pieces of advice throughout her journey.
He believes it is his duty to help Mio and Mayu escape from Minakami Village, and serves as an ally to Mio amid the wraiths that haunt the village.

The first wraith that Mio and Mayu encounter at Minakami Village.
Even after being killed by wraiths while searching for her lover, she continues to wander the village, desperately seeking his presence.

Seijiro Makabe
A folklore specialist who visited Minakami Village — active and skilled in field research.
Fascinated by the village’s legend of "a place that must never be seen" he continued his investigation while being treated as an Outsider.
He is the one who brought the Camera Obscura to the village; a device capable of capturing things that should not exist.

A powerful wraith in which the Camera Obscura has no effect against.

A bloodstained wraith who approaches Mio with a chilling smile.
One of the twin sisters of the Kurosawa family who preside over the Crimson Sacrifice Ritual — a ceremony that uses twins as offerings.
Chosen as one of the Twin Maidens for the ritual that triggered The Repentance, she now haunts Mio, whispering, "Are you leaving me again?" as she closes in.
